Who says I have a clue about grammar anyway?
Who says I have enough of a clue about grammar to write this stuff? Well, no one really. I don't have a teaching credential. My undergraduate degree is in Computer Science with a minor in Creative Writing. My masters degree (which I am almost done with) is in Computer Science.

HOWEVER...

About three years ago, I answered a request for authors from Sams Publishing. You might better know them as the folks who do the Unleashed series of books. I ended up writing a chapter for the UNIX Unleashed, System Administrators Ed., 2nd Ed.. That led me writing several more chapters for the following books:

Book Chapters
Unix Unleashed, System Administrators Ed. File systems
Red Hat Linux Unleashed, 2nd Ed. TCP/IP (which included DNS, NFS, NIS, PPP, and network configuration), Kernel compilation, POP, and FTP. (About 100 pages in total)
Using Linux User administration
Red Hat Linux Unleashed, 3rd Ed. Technical Editor, NFS, and NIS. The chapters on DNS, POP, FTP, and PPP/ifconfig are almost verbatim from the previous edition, despite the fact that someone else put their name on it.
Unix Unleashed, 3rd Ed. File Systems

pic of linux book here My current pride and joy is Linux Administration: A Beginners Guide which I wrote everything except one chapter. (DHCP was authored by technical editor and good friend, Art Chan.) This book, above all else, reminded me that my grammar still has a lot to be desired. My copy editors really did a wonderful job in taking what I wrote and making it sound really great.

So, am I really an authoritative source on grammar? No. But I think I have enough of a clue to get this site going and look for help from others who have a better clue. =)
