
It has been a while since I've posted anything. Life, it would seem, wants to have me burn most of my brain cycles on topics that really don't get to be shared in public. :-) The rest of the cycles go to The Boy who is working the charm, soaking the world in, and eating solids.
So I'll leave you with a recent article that I thought was very interesting. The author of Why Johnny can't code at Salon.com asserts that part of our challenge with building a new generation of programmers is that modern computers don't come with line-by-line BASIC. I mostly agree with the sentiment. As a kid of the 80s, I benefitted in a huge way by having a computer whose startup sequence ended with a BASIC prompt.
But I'll save the diatribe that goes with it for another day.
