
Having been subject to more "my mac is better than your PC" silliness last week, especially around the matter of security, I feel compelled to point out Apple's latest security patch covering 31 flaws:

The summary SecurityFocus found off a blogger's site: "In short, without the latest update, OS X is secure as long as you don't look at any movies, websites, zip files, flash content or email messages."
Yup, that's about right.
Don't get me wrong. The Mac with OS X is a perfectly fine machine and operating system. If it's an operating environment you're happy with, I'm happy for you. (My wife loves her Mac and Apple has taken a chunk of change from us over time as a result.) But please, the illusion of security because your operating system comes from Cupertino, California instead of Redmond, Washington is just that: an illusion.
